This project in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was born of an unassuming, dark and divided workers cottage in Suffolk. The main objective was to create openings and vistas to the surrounding countryside, whilst also creating a free-flowing and versatile space in which to work, live and display a variety of artworks and artefacts. The challenge was to generate differing moods and intimacy in open spaces - achieved through the use of a range of lighting techiques, from point specific LEDS, to more functional low energy schemes. Also highly efficient, the project was specified using modern glazing and insulating methods.
